Historical Heritage: From a Bank to an Oasis of Hospitality
The history of The Bank Hotel Istanbul dates back to 1867. It was designed by Italian architect Antoine
Tedeschi in the then popular Neo-Renaissance style. For decades, the building served as the headquarters of
renowned banks, including Crédit Général Ottoman and Deutsche Bank.
A meticulous restoration in the 21st century transformed the historic building into a five-star hotel while
preserving many of its original features. Its eclectic architecture with 19th-century elements joins the vibrant
modern district of Karaköy.
